New York Post Newspaper Features Interview With RatMat's Dr Toby Bateson On Protecting Teslas From Rodent Damage

This week the New York Post newspaper published an interview with RatMats own Dr Toby Bateson. They asked us about the huge amount of damage Tesla electric cars are suffering from rats and mice. They also wanted to know about the role of RatMat Electrified Flooring Tiles in solving the problem. The article states that a big problem with Tesla cars is that they are highly vulnerable to damage by rats and mice. They say that Tesla are not taking responsibility for this and are refusing to pay for repairs. They cite the soya-based casing on wires as being a draw for the rodents, as well as the accessibility of the underside of the car. We have found that the problem is not isolated to Teslas and most types of car can be affected by it. This includes new, old, sports and classic cars. Unfortunately, once a car has been targeted and repaired, this does not prevent future episodes. In fact, once rodents have been in a car, even if they are removed, others will often follow the scent which remains and recolonise the vehicle.

We have not heard of any other car manufacturer covering repairs for damage so it seems unlikely that Tesla will do so. Even some insurance companies will not cover the costs fully. In the interview, Dr Toby Bateson says; “We’re getting a lot of enquiries from Tesla owners because they seem to be vulnerable to the problem.” He went on to state that the company had been contacted by over 150 Tesla owners about the problem. The number has surged since the article has been published and shared across several other news outlets. Thankfully the RatMat is incredibly effective at protecting Teslas against rodent damage. By placing a perimeter of tiles around the car, that some mice are repels and will not get near enough to the vehicle to cause any damage. The system works like an electric fence on the floor, meaning it is safe, humane and long-lasting. It does not require nasty rodenticides which can enter the food chain and damage local wildlife. Mice and rats seem to be able to sense the electricity and will often not even set foot on the tiles. Even though it is super effective at keeping rodents away, it is not a barrier to humans as it can be driven over and walked on wearing shoes. The tile system is modular and can be adapted to fit any shape and size of vehicle or other area that needs to be protected. Please contact us for details on availability and pricing.
